ACID BLUES
1 TrackACID BLUES started out in mid-2003 as a jam band playing every Friday night at Carnival Court in Long St, Cape Town. Continuing into 2004 and 2005, the attendance began to grow at a rapid rate, along with the band’s repertoire. With more gigs came a few originals and a bit of reputation getting them billed at local festivals and other local venues. Although Carnival Court remained their home base for a few years and where their first album ‘Acid Blues Live At Carnival Court Vol.1’ was recorded, this album demonstrated a changing line-up featuring no less than 3 bass players! When the lineup dust had finally settled, Acid Blues comprised of guitarist/vocalist James Kibby (the last man standing from the original lineup), bassist extraordinaire Maurice ‘The Passion’ Paliaga and the legendary Richard Pickett on drums. This was the lineup right up until Richard’s untimely death in 2019 for which their last gig had been in Barrydale at the infamous Karoo Art Hotel.
A2B has an EP bouquet comprising 6 tracks with various Cape Town musical luminaries rocking guest spots (Darren English, Dan Shout, Mark Goliath, Mark Buchanan & DJ Hamma) recorded at The Stock Room in Salt River sporadically between 2016 and 2019.
